The Brief
Supporting growth and collaboration
Unity5 sought a workspace that would reflect their inclusive, family-oriented culture while supporting business growth over the next five to ten years. The team relocated to new offices within Clyst House, Winslade Park, Exeter, with a brief to deliver a flexible environment offering a variety of workspaces for both current and future needs. Team culture is central to the business, so the design needed to include open-plan desk areas, flexible meeting rooms, private zones, and touchdown spaces, alongside a large central collaboration area—ensuring staff have space to work, socialise, and connect comfortably.

Space
Bespa’s design incorporates a combination of workstations, meeting rooms, collaboration areas, quiet zones, and a central breakout hub. The breakout area encourages informal meetings and social interaction, with soft seating providing a relaxed, approachable feel. Adjacent wings support separate functions of the business: one fostering collaborative, dynamic work, the other a quieter, focused space. During the initial site visit, a double-height roof void was identified, offering an opportunity to add a mezzanine above the central hub. This additional space now serves as an informal meeting area and games zone, accessed via a bespoke oak-tread steel staircase.
Design
Visitors are welcomed with a bright entrance featuring a living wall and tablet check-in, integrated into an oak-clad open shelving unit that visually connects to the west wing and central breakout. Unity5’s brand colours are applied throughout on wall finishes and upholstery, combined with natural furniture and flooring materials to create a cohesive, warm, and contemporary environment. Every detail was carefully considered to reflect the company culture, support flexible working, and allow for future growth, resulting in a workspace that is both functional and inspiring for staff and visitors alike.
