The Brief

A space designed for innovation and experience

Bespa created a new Delivery and Innovation Centre for MK Test in Wellington, Somerset. The brief was to deliver a modern, functional workplace that reflected the company’s branding and supported both staff operations and client engagement. Starting from a full strip-out, Bespa designed a space that balances operational requirements, innovation, and presentation needs. The project included a client demonstration area, meeting spaces, and upgraded facilities, ensuring comfort, accessibility, and efficiency. By carefully integrating branding, ergonomics, and specialist finishes, the refurbishment provides a vibrant, contemporary environment that meets the evolving needs of MK Test and enhances their workplace experience.

Space

The centre is organised across multiple zones to support both operational and collaborative activities. The ground floor includes a client-facing presentation area, informal seating, tea-points, and upgraded bathroom facilities to accommodate increased headcount. The first floor innovation space houses engineers’ workstations with specialist anti-static flooring and ergonomic seating. Bespoke storage solutions under the staircase maximise efficiency, while circulation between areas encourages interaction and flexibility. Each zone is designed to support different ways of working, from focused laboratory tasks to collaborative meetings, while maintaining a welcoming and professional environment for both staff and visitors.

Design

MK Test’s brand identity informed the choice of colour, materials, and furniture throughout the centre. Bold colour is balanced with neutral tones creating a vibrant but cohesive aesthetic. Specialist finishes, including epoxy resin and anti-static surfaces, meet operational requirements, while ergonomic furniture supports comfort and well-being. New air conditioning, security systems, fire alarms, and IT infrastructure ensure functionality and safety. Bespoke detailing, from storage solutions to client presentation zones, enhances efficiency and experience. The result is a modern, fully integrated Delivery and Innovation Centre that embodies MK Test’s identity while fostering productivity, collaboration, and a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and staff alike.

We wanted a vibrant flexible working environment to underpin a change to full hybrid working whilst preserving our culture and protecting our member experience of 'The Exeter'. Bespa absolutely delivered it.
