Creation of a new business services workspace for Cuckoo at their head office in Exeter.
The Brief
A space to support growth and evolving teams
Following the rebrand from Jurassic Fibre to Cuckoo, Bespa returned to deliver a new business services workspace at their Head Office in Exeter. The project focused on designing and fitting out the first floor to support rapid growth and evolving team dynamics. The brief called for a flexible environment tailored to departments including IT, HR, Finance, and Marketing, while allowing for future expansion. Alongside functionality, the space needed to reflect Cuckoo’s refreshed brand identity and provide inspiring areas for collaboration and training, creating a cohesive, future-ready workplace aligned with the business’s next chapter.

Space
The generous floorplate, wrapped with large perimeter windows, provides abundant natural light and informed the layout of distinct departmental zones. Each area was carefully planned to reflect different working styles, from quieter, more confidential spaces for HR and Finance to dynamic, collaborative zones for Marketing and Customer Support. Zoning is subtly defined through the use of lockers with integrated planters, offering both practical storage and a natural, calming presence. This approach allows teams to feel connected yet supported in their individual needs, creating a balanced environment that encourages focus, interaction, and flexibility throughout the workspace.
Design
The design responds directly to Cuckoo’s refreshed brand, integrating updated finishes, colours, and materials to create a cohesive and contemporary identity throughout the space. Natural elements, including integrated planting, soften the environment and enhance well-being, while clean, modern finishes support a professional and functional aesthetic. Every detail was considered to balance visual impact with usability, ensuring the space supports both daily operations and long-term growth. The result is a bright, adaptable workplace that reflects the energy of the brand, supports diverse team needs, and provides an uplifting environment for collaboration, training, and focused work.
